Strong Girls Strong World

A Strong girl means a healthy world-
Despite progress in recent years, young girls continue to be a disadvantaged group around the world, excluded from many opportunities in society and denied economic and social rights. In developing countries, girls are more likely to be denied an education, live in poverty, and be malnourished . In a like manner, girls from all over the world continue to be sexually imposed by the media, and are often limited by traditional gender roles and stereotypes.
Opposition for a girl to be strong-
The negative attitude of parents towards the girl child and her education is one of the major reasons of low female literacy rate in India. In most of the families, boys are given priority in terms of education but the girls are not being treated the same way. Right from the beginning, parents do not consider girls as the earning member of their family, as after marriage they have to leave their parents’ home. So their education is just considered as a wastage of money as well as time.
When a girl or a woman is not educated, it is not only she who suffers but the entire family has to bear the consequences of her illiteracy. It has been found out that illiterate women face more hardships in life than the literate ones.
In one of the surveys, it has been found out that infant mortality is inversely related to mother’s educational level. In such a scenario not only women but their kids also go through the same condition. She, who does not know the importance of education in life, does not emphasize the same for her kids. This hampers the family as well as the nation’s progress as a whole.
Though government is putting efforts to make the primary education free but still parents are not ready to send their girls to school. Nothing seems to work.
We’ve been talking of women empowerment a lot, and now its high time to prove our words. Its time for us to wake up and work towards the development of our country.
If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a generation.
